Does anybody know how to replace the sliding hatch that covers the companionway on a 1983 Hunter 34? How do you get the old one out?

It is a two person job and is easier than it sounds.. Remove the sea hood, that big fiberglass cover that has the rope tunnels in it .. about two bajillion screws have to come out..Pry it up slowly, waiting for the goop to release.. Clean all the old goop out.. countersink the tops of the lower screw holes (nice trick from MainSail) change the sliding cover.. and put new goop in .. Consider drilling a drain hole between the slider pocket and the rope tunnels on the forward end. Just be sure to seal the hole walls so water doesn't invade the core.. Good Luck with it.
