I have a 1977 22' O'day, which according to all of the information I read, it is suppose to have a sliding door giving privacy to the forward "V" berth and toilet. My O'day doesn't have a door and I would like to improve the privacy of the forward cabin area more than a curtain. I have looked at all of the ads and all of the information that I could find online and am unable to find anything showing this sliding door. If anyone has this option, please contact me and if you can take a couple pictures of how it slides, I would greatly appreciate it. Warm weather is around the corning and I'd like to have this done before she sits on her mooring.
Thanks, Jim

My impression is that the door was swinging, not sliding. However, like you, I've never actually seen one. I think most all the owners ditched them ASAP b/c they got in the way. I can't figure out how the door would slide given that to starboard you've got the skinny bulkhead w/ not much room to slide anything and also the 'hanging locker' and sole level storage bin. To port you've got about a foot of space before the portapotti pedestal raises up a couple of inches. I understand your problem but if you want more privacy than a curtain will provide, you are probably looking at adding on another 10' of boat. Just my 0.02

It is a bi-fold door that swings to forwart-port and latches open with a little pich-latch on the sole.
I will try to find a photo to post of it. It really provides a lot of privacy!
You would probably want to make one...and if so I can measure mine and post.

Jack- That would really be appreciated. My wife has this thing about when we have someone else on the boat and it would make her feel much more comfortable. The bulk heads were just redone last year with formica covering, along with the countertop. Now the door and some new cushions, we'll be like new. Pics would be appreciated. Thanks again. Jim

My '72 Oday 22 has a sliding door; plywood with teak guides top & bottom. It doesn't slide very well. Bi-fold sounds like the ticket.

Tasdevil,
Thanks for the offer. I just cut the wood yesterday and still have it in the back of my truck. If I get into a pickel, I'll contact you.
