SlideMoor Mooring anyone?

Has anyone used or seen this type of mooring system?

It's called SlideMoor and the idea is your boat is cleated to two slides that travel up and down the piles with the tide.

I'm in the process of buying a 2007 Hunter 41 DS and need a way to secure it to my pier without getting scratched up. I don't have any mooring piles and permits with variance will be expensive. I'm in a protected no wake zone but we do get some wind and a tide change here in the Northern Chesapeake Bay of about 2ft. maybe 4ft. with a storm surge.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this system?

Hello,
The system you are considering does not eliminate violent motion against the pier. The only advantage I see is the lower possibility of the boat catching underneath or on the pier, it would depend on how it is tied to the sliding supports. I have not detected any issues from properly used fenders.
I would consider a mooring buoy, with a line from the pier so that you are able to pull the boat near enough to board. Your pier orientation and predominant weather will determine feasibility. If you are able to have the boat to leeward of the pier, there are no issues as long as the lines are slack enough.

Poles

You do need 2 or at least 1 pole to use the slide moore.
I do have friends who have them and most have 2 poles 1 at bow cleat and 1 at the mid ship cleat and the boat gets tied up tight up against the slide moor black bumper and yes it holds the boat very secure and mostly goes up and down with the tide with out any spring lines and no fenders needed.
I am thinking of adding them so when not around to check my boat I will know
it is secured properly and not banging into the dock.
I also have friends that use only 1 slidemoor.

I would like to have them. You need to two for it to be effective. I have a friend with one and it does not work that well. The poles need to be aligned with you stern and mid ship cleats.

I have one for my h26. Mid beam lines bow and stern. Works great.
Here is southwest Florida.

Thank you all for the feedback. It looks like a variance may be hard to come by for two mooring piles 15 FT from my pier. So I will most likely use the Slidmoor system. I have to install at lest one additional pile a foot from the pier adjacent to the second forward mid bow cleat and increase the height of the pier pile for the stern cleat to compensate for an extreme tide change.
