The aft cabin on our '88 Hunter Legend 40 can be very noisy at times. The testimonials to the Slap Silencer as seen on their web site sound great (as you would expect). Has anyone used the Slap Silencer and not been pleased with the results? Any comments either way?

Do a search on swim noodle. Sounds tempting. Easy and cheap.

Reviews

Hi Ken - While you'd think the reviews would be biased if there's not even a single bad review, those posted by customer from SBO are completely un-edited. See related link below. Best, Trevor

Use one or two swim noodles with a line running thru them and attach the line to the aft cleats. Cost is two bucks for the two noodles plus the line. My friends and I have used the noodles and they work great

Slab Silencer

Hey Ken, I'll second what Trevor says; I am one who bought the Slap Silencer, and my review is posted, unedited. I use it every time I head for Catalina, as the coves over in the Two Harbors area always have some surge that literally pounds on the bottom. This product is one of the best items that I ever bought for my boat. I do sleep better now on the boat then I do at home. There hasn't been a weekend that I used the Slap Silencer that someone hasn't asked to come aboard to see how it does. And everyone that has checked it out always asks where they can get one. Spend the money and get a really good product that does what it promises.

Surplus slap silencer

The PO on my H340 bought one, which we don't use. (Never tried it, don't know how well it works) Let me know if you're interested. I'm in the directory.

It Works!

We used one with our Hunter 376 and it worked great. Couldn't have slept in the aft cabin without. Tried the noodle trick and the Slap Silencer was much better. Doug Merrill s/v High Stepper

But at anchor...

When I really like it is when the conditions at anchor have the boat headed in the opposite direction from the waves or surge and you can't just turn her around.
