I have broken (cracked) the plexaglass that pulls over the companion way on my 28.5. Anybody repaired or replaced this? Advice please!

Not specifically your issue, but I took my two, 30 yr old Bomar hatches to a local commercial glass company. They matched the plexi, and installed both for around $150.00 total.

Thanks, I have already fix my hatches with replacement parts from Bomar at less than $100. This question about how the remove this for repair or replacement.

I assume you are referring to the main, sliding hatch. I am not familiar with your particular model, so other owners will have to chime in or, you could describe the specifics along with pics to descibe the issue in detail so that we may help.

Three possibilities

it either slides out by going forward
or
slides out by going backward
or
you unscrew the slide rails and pull the whole thing.

Most just slide out from the rear. since this is blindingly obvious I'm thinking you have already tried this. really need a picture.

I have the 28.5 and I recall this type of question either here, or on the huntertwentyeightfive.com site. IIRC, the real difficulty is that one needs to remove the companionway cover "hood"(garage cover) which is an intricate job of separating/digging out the caulk around the hood and removing several screwsdowns.

From there it should be relatively easy to swap out the lexan/plexiglas companionway cover.
