I noticed in the archives that a discussion took place sometime in May about the rigging of the older style '22s (blocks on the transom, not the backstay). "Proto57" posted a sketch of this rigging arrangement, which is unfortunately no longer active. Since I couldn't find an email address for proto57, I'm asking if anyone has this sketch, could you please repost it? Thanks

oops, forgot an important keyword - MAINSHEET rig
I forgot to include the fact that I'm interested in a sketch or instructions on the proper way to run the MAINSHEET rigging of an O22 that has transom blocks (as opposed to the block attached to the backstay). Sorry if my first note wasn't clear.

I too do not like the idea of the mainsheet attaching to the backstay. My solution is to have two complete mainsheet systems attached to U-bolts about 7" behind the winches. Or in other words, two block and tackles on each side of the boom. Lots more secure, prevents accidental jibes, and is a better solution than messing up the cockpit with a traveler. It is not the ideal arrangement, but safe and serviceable.

Actually, my boat is an older model (72) that came with a different mainsheet rigging setup than the later "backstay" arrangement. It involves using blocks mounted at either side of the boat, just behind the cockpit. Since I just got my boat, I'm trying to make sure everything is setup properly. The previous owner of my boat definitely doesn't have the mainsheet configured properly. Earlier, someone (proto57) posted a diagram illustrating the proper layout for the rig. Unfortunately, the archives didn't retain that image for some reason. I'd like some assistance setting this mainsheet up properly. Thanks
