I have a question relating to the size of the clevis pin at both the masthead and the deck on the forestay....The boat is a 1976 Catalina 27. I live 200 miles from my boat and need to know to complete my roller furling order...Apparently Catalina doesn't keep this type of information, and Catalina Direct couldn't answer me either...Can anyone help me out...Thanks much kj

Do you have your manual?

To find out what size clevis pin is specified for your boat, look in your Owner's Manual. The "official" clevis pin dimension should be in the drawing for the rigging that is included in that document. I'm cynical enough to say "official" (as opposed to actual) because the manual for my 2002 C-320 indicates that the headstay clevis pin was changed from 1/2" to 5/8" in 2000. Unfortunately, the rollerfurler (and clevis pin) that was actually installed in 2002 was 1/2". The stemhead fitting has the specified 5/8" diameter hole. To be absolutely sure, you will need to remove your headstay and actually measure the hole in the stemhead fitting. Steve Alchemist C-320

Thanks for the reply

Well thanks Steve, I suppose I know that it would be alot easier just to measure everything since the mast is at this point beside the boat in dry dock, and ahhh, it would be so easy, except that the boat is 200 miles away and not readily accessible...I won't be going there until 6/17 and had hoped to get the furling thing straightened out before then....Thanks anyway, and BTW, I don't have a manual for the boat....Too bad...KJ

Likely 3/8 on boht, but I'll check tonite

The standard wire size on the C27 headstay is 3/16, which would make the normal turnbuckle (and clevis pins) size 3/8. I've got a '74, and will be out there at the boat this evening, and I'll measure the clevis pin at the tack to be sure. The clevis at the head would be the same. Of course, this assumes no PO was changed it from the standard on your boat! And I have a the manual for my 27, and it's pretty worthless as to sizes and other technical info. It's more like the normal manufacturer's CYA warning info. "Be sure you don't do this because you can hurt yourself or void your warranty".

It is 3/8"

I measured the tack of my '74, and it uses a 3/8" pin. I'm sure the head is the same.
