Over the next 72 hours we will be installing some significant changes to the sites. These changes (detailed below) will start on the store pages this weekend and spread to the forums and classifieds in two phases, like a bad stomach flu.

Here's what you'll see:

* New home page which combines the forums, ads, resources, and store. The goal is to highlight all the resources available on the site, not just the ones most used

* New navigation menu which combines the forums, ads, resources, and store into one menu, and contains clear links to help, customer service, login, etc.

* A new page called a resource map which will show you all recent site activity at a glance

* Larger type font for easier reading

* Greatly improved usability on tablets and phones

All of the above will be installed in the store this weekend.

The new home page and resource map will appear on the forum server in the next 1-2 weeks.

In phase two, the changes will roll over into the forum and resources later this year. (That's a trickier project and may involve code upgrades for the classifieds, gear ads, and other older features.)

LOL, only the home page and the store. It will be some months before there are changes to the forums.

The only forum thing that will change in the near future (~1-2 weeks) is a different nav bar at the top, and it's actually quite similar to the old one.

Dava,

That was too funny man.

I've had Gremlin issues over the years & Phil was always quickly there to help solve my problems. The guy works hard keeping the site running smoothly.

It could be alot worse, we could be stuck with a, "Red Herring"!
(A red herring is something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important issue). This is definitely not our Phil Herring.

Sorry Phil, I just couldn't help myself ......

CR: my Dad's first name was Finis, pronounced FINE-is (with a long i). I mention this because my friend had the all-time best Herring pun. He suggested we name my first daughter after my dad... kinda:

Finis Norweigan Herring

I sometimes regret not doing that.

Okay Phil, you hijacked your own thread:

When my wife was carrying our youngest we were working on names. I knew her favorite boy’s name. I suggested I pick out the middle name. A couple months later she was on the phone telling someone “Ken thinks it’s going to be a girl, but just in case it’s a boy we are going to name him Justin Case.”

There was a pause and then her face changed from the face of an angel to something I can’t identify.

Well guys, can you imagine the first names for my last name? Lotta Cash, Shorta Cash and so on. One of my nicknames from US Army era was Hard Cash. I was kind of proud of that one! Yes, I am Johnny Cash's second cousin. Chief
