I installed Sirius on my C27. I have it mounted on the stern rail, I find that when im heeling the signal gets very low and cuts in and out. If im on the hook or moored, or docked (basically if the boat is levelled it is fine. Does anyone else have this issue? If so, what did you do to resolve it? By the looks of it, Sirius does not have a marine antenna Thanks.

I went with the car antennae

You know what I did - the kit I bought came with a car antennae and before I went out to buy the marine unit (that cost around $75) I tried a few places to get a signal. First I used the fuel tank but that did not work out - too much metal above the tank for the signal to go through (wheel base). Then I tried my 6 gallon hotwater heater located in my port-side locker. Works great at all angels. The car antenna will work it needs to mounted on a large piece of metal to work. Rob

I have XM and have had no problems

I have been using XM Radio and have the car unit installed at the nav station. there is a lexan window right next to the unit and I put the little magnetic antenna face out in the window with a piece of tape. I have never had a problem with the signal.

Sirius has marine antenna

An SIR-5 is their marine antenna, though I don't know whether it would improve reception. My non-marine Sirius antenna is mounted just in front of the mast and I haven't had reception problems. Paul

Use your imagination and build...

a small gimbal for the antenna. Can't be that difficult. Just a small counter-weight under the antenna and she will remain upright all the time.

Antenna from Car Kit

works fine aboard my boat. The antenna is on top of a cabinet below decks. the top of the cabinet is about 8 inches below the cabin overhead/deck. Good signal all the time even while heeled over. I am using the Sirius Sportster radio & car kit aboard. Rodney S/V Sashay C-42 #567 SF Bay

Ditto........

Just like Rodney, I put the standard issue car antenna on top of a cabinet. It "sees" thru the coach roof just fine. That said, I have no idea how it would perform when heeled. :) 2HDave Catana 471-44
