Sippy Cup/Big Gulp Regatta Results? Survivors?

Anyone here participate in the race this year? I was planning on it but I am seriously a fair-weather sailor and the forecast looked wet. I checked the radar at start time and there was a storm over the whole course from the Bay Bridge to HDG! It seemed to last for hours. So did the race happen? If so there must be some great tales. Hope everyone faired well. Anyone?

The race did happen. Ten boats crossed the star line, 5 crossed the finish line. Winds were from zero to near 20, rain from light to heavy. Most of the boats that dropped out did so due to the crews getting cold from being wet. The past few Sippy's have taken about 8 hours, this one took 12! A Cape Dory 25 took the Sippy Cup, and our Pearson 35 took the Big Gulp (only Big Gulper to finish). It was fun and a good experience.

We wold have been on of 11 to start and can't tell you if we would have finished or not. The morning of the race, I got real sick while preparing the day before in Annapolis and had to go to hospital. We wouldn't have been a contender but for us finishing is winning.

Next year is our year!
