and don't have the upper body strength of a man you made a smart choice. I repair houses and resetting a toilet is as demanding of good control as any job I know. Make a mistake and get out a new ring.

I carry two wax rings (without the plastic center). They stick to anything under water. I also carry wood plugs of various sizes. These are great for roundish holes, but I've seen hulls crack a foot or more after they hit or were hit by something. The crack was just that, a crack, but it allowed water to pour in. Once I put wax on the outside of the hull of a 1 1/2' long crack. It slowed the inflow to a minimum allowing us to save the boat from sinking. Obviously you have to be creative while out on the water and a wax ring is just another tool to use in an emergency.
