Sink through hull fitting

Sure this has been asked before however I am about to put my 1973 Oday 22 back in the water and was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the through hull sink drain? I see that there is no shut off on it only the tube from the sink to the fitting. Has this been a problem and should I replace with a through hull cut off? Hat to see my new old boat go to the bottom on her first float with me. Thanks--Russ Miller

Is the sink drain thru-hull above the waterline as it is on many boats this size?

Well, then some sort of shut-off is probably in order. And/or a religiously observed program of checking on the hose condition and some plan for dealing with failure. Highly unlikely a problem will occur, but forewarned is forearmed, etc.
