last week I left a plastic bottle of "lime Away" in the sink on my boat. When I came back a few days later It had made a pretty good ring in the bottom where it was evidently wet. Does any one know how to remove this? a chemical or just brillo pad and scrub?

You probably 'etched' the stainless

Lime Away, CLR are acids. Acids if left in long term contact with metals will 'etch away' the 'easier' grains/macromolecules of surface metal. Most stainless sinks are finished with a '180 grit scratch finish' ... get some 180 grit sandpaper or emory cloth and sand away (carefully in one direction only) to remove what was etched and to best match the 'scratch' finish.

This worked for me

I had some rust stains in the two sinks on my C30. Pulled one out to see if I could get one locally. No luck. Took it to the shop and used one of those air operated die grinders with one of those comb like devices the mechanics use to remove gaskets and clean up engine parts. They are made of a rubbery plastic and look a bit like one of those brush cut combs we used in the 60's. If you don't have access to one, take it to your local auto repair guy and get him to do it. Be careful of the drain piece. I think mine are plastic. I spent about 5 minutes cleaning and then 2 minutes rubbing with scotch brite. Now it looks like a brand new sink. Admiral is 100% delighted. Me too because replacements are expensive and not easily found on the prairies. I had tried all kinds of cleaning solutions and none worked including CLR. Let us know how you make out. Regards Ken

sanding worked well on sink

It took about 5 minutes to sand down and off the spot where the "lime away" bottle sat in the sink. Looks like now now. Thanks for the tip.
