Sink in the Head area O'Day 26

Well, I attached a pic of the trailer refit, that's what I have now. Spent the winter removing the boat from a wood cradle and refit it to this with rollers.


However the post is about a faucet in the head area. I have the stock hand pump that came with the O'Day it is hard to use. I am looking for a solution, maybe a foot pump to put in there? Looking for thoughts and idea's on that.

If it was my 26' boat....

I wouldn't even care if there was a sink in the head. They're generally too small to be all that useful. Use one to shave?...LOL I'd rather eliminate it the %@$@ thing and just use the sink in the galley.

But, it you really like it, I agree the hand pumps are the pits. Some folks like 'em, but not me. If you don't currently have a 12v pump on the boat, I'd suggest a foot pump. They don't have the noise that the electrics have, and they help you conserve water.

Ha ha, I hear ya However, it is for the Commander when she sails. She wants a sink to wash her hands, and brush her teeth, all that hygiene stuff! I agree, that hand pump is hard, and after you use the "facilities", well, we need a better solution in her words I did remove the back sink, the one by the stairs though. I built some cubbies in there to store small repair items etc, much more practical than a sink.

Do you know what make the faucet is? My boat came with a Fynspray hand pump faucet. They were made "Down Under" but the repair kits can be obtained in the states. I bought the repair kit for mine at a place called "Imtra" in the New Bedford Ma., Industrial Park. My son lives a few minutes from there and he was able to pick it up for me after I called and ordered it.

Usually, there's a rubber ring in them that wears out after a period of time that needs replacing. I lubricate it with vegetable oil to get it to run smooth. Also, there needs to be water in the hose in order for the pump to prime. Check it out. You may be able to repair it.
