Sink in Head Renovation

Head sink renovation
The sink top in my 36ft Hunter has cracks in it and is now starting to delaminate.
Keep in mind that the counter top and sink are molded in place.
I’m looking for ideas to fix, replace or just cover. It’s an off white cream and I’m not enthusiastic about trying to match the gel coat.
My thought has been to cut our around the sink, lay a liniment over the counter top then drop in a new stainless sink, trin out with teak.
Has anyone done anything similar or have a better idea?

Measure it carefully and find out of it is a stock residential size. Look closely at the underside. You may have to cut away too much material. Most stainless steel basins are self trimming and come with a built in clamping system for installation.

Be careful with the stock household clamping systems. Most connectors are mild steel and rust and fail very quickly in a marine environment.

I have used household SS sinks in boats but always have a local welder weld SS bolts or machine screws to the bottom edges so it can be properly attached.

If you can cut out the sink area you may be able to get a piece of granite, Corian or other solid surface material to replace it. Some of the places that fabricate this stuff can put in a sink or you can purchase a S.S. unit to drop in.

If you do this be sure to leave enough material so you can screw into the solid surface material from below.
