I have 2 cheek blocks and 2 bullet blocks for 5/16" line. For now I have a cleat that I will mount on the boom to terminate the reefing line.
I like the way single line reefing sounds, but some people are unhappy with the sail shape with single line reefing.
If I have 2 blocks mounted at the clew and tack reefing cringles on the sail and two cheek blocks mounted on the boom, so when I pull the reefing line it pulls the sail down and then stretches the foot of the sail, can I achive a good tight foot?
There are two more cringles in the middle of the sail for the first reef, do I need to tie those down if I have the single line reefing set up to stretch the foot of the sail?
Also does the bottom part of the sail just bunch up at the boom? Does it need to be flaked in some way?
I have to drill and tap holes in the boom for this so I want to get it right the first time if possible.
