I am thinking of setting up a single line jiffy reef for my 1977 Catalina 30 TR. I want to be able to reef from the cockpit. I am wondering what diameter line to use for the reef line. If anyone has done this or has experience with this, please give me some advice. Also, I am wondering what size or brand of cheek blocks to use on the boom to lead the lines to the turning block at the mast base. Thanks for your thoughts on this. John

jiffy reefing..

3/8" should be fine. Blocks to fit the line. Have you considered a two line system? Much more effective. http://www.harken.com/rigtips/reefing.php

John, check out this Harken link. Then go to the tech corner link at the left of the page to get some specific recommendations from Harken. You might do the same research with Ronstan, Schaffer or any of the other sailing hardware manufacturers.
