I would like to rig my 1975 O'Day 27 for singlehanding. Currently halyards run externally down the mast to cleats, with a Mariner winch on the jib halyard side. The deck of the superstructure by the cockpit is cluttered with the cam cleats for the traveler, and I don't think I want to remove or rearrange these. Unlike some boats, the cabin superstructure is rounded, making adding flat bases for winches problematic. Would appreciate any info, advice, or solutions for making my beloved boat more solo sailor friendly. Thanks! By the way, the Gerr downhaul system for the jib looks great. Anybody have any experience with it, or plans?
