Singing Prop

For what it is worth, we would get our prop spinning as well when the speed got up but it was a very different sound. The singing never happened when not under power and would not happen when tied to the dock and in gear at the same rev ranges.
I also tried putting her in reverse when sailing to stop the prop from spinning and found it very hard to get her out of reverse to start the engine. Perhaps if we had been stopped but of course I wanted to start the engine when still sailing to help lower the sails up wind.

You have to think as has been suggested this would be the tool to assist in the elimination process. Less than $20.00 and always good to have in the tool box.

Acoustic noise can be very interesting. I have spent many years working with acoustic noise in the aircraft industry. One of the things that got my attention is the fixes in the aircraft industry are always to avoid sharp edges. the above posts suggest a square edge which would absolutely produce sharp corners. granted the fluid involved tere is water rather than air. Air will compress water will not. I do not claim to be an acoustical engineer but it seems like I would be looking for errors in the manufacturing or damage to the prop before I would consider modifying the prop. I would also expect a curved edge on the trailing edge and leading edge with the trailing edge being sharper than the leading edge.
