I'm planning on putting in an autopilot over the winter and am leaning towards the Simrad WP32. However, from the posts in these and other forums, it appears the WP32 may not be able to interface with Garmin GPS units. Since I have a Garmin 192C on my boat, this would be a major drawback to the Simrad unit. Anyone have any luck with interfacing this unit to a Garmin GPS? If the answer is yes, I'd appreciate feedback on what it takes to do so. Thanks.

it will work fine

its a simple connection - ground to ground, data out (GPS) to data in (simrad). Need to ensure you're outputting NMEA, not garmin proprietary protocol - which is a setting on the unit. I've interfaced my simrad with both a handhelt gpsmap 76, and a 2010.

I agree, it will work fine

I have the Simrad WP32 and the Garmin 182c {I think} and it works fine. I posted a how to in the archives. There was one small problem that took me a couple of days to figure out. It had to do with wiring a seperate ground wire in the Simrad wiring box. Look up the info in the archives if you need more help on it. Good luck, Jack
