I am considering buying a Simrad WP 32 autopilot. I am seeking information, good or bad, about Simrad autopilots.

I don't know how big your boat is but I put one on my Ericson 38 for our delivery trip from Annapolis, Md to Clearwater, Fl down the ICW ... motoring ... no real strain on the unit ...still the plastic mounting fractured within the first 2 hours of use ... also the controls are sideways ...and forward of the wheel where they're hard to reach without reaching through the wheel ... not a big drawback but still... Then the belt broke at St Lucie, FL after about 20 days of continuous use ... turns out that to replace the belt you have to send it in to the factory ... not user replaceable. Since I couldn't buy one of the old style units with the external belt ... I sent the whole thing back and got a refund. I now have installed a Raymarine below decks unit ... much happier now. My installation pics are on the Ericson website under owner projects.
