I have Simrad electronics on my Beneteau 37. The VHF RS25E is connected to The Simrad NSSB nav system. The GPS is working on the nav and auto pilot but does not send GPS position to the VHS radio. The radio continues to ask for input of position. I have set for auto not manual. This is important because the ratio will report position on distress calls and MOB, and MMSI. There must be something that I have not picked up in the manual. Help.

Also, the hour log for the Yanmar is not working? Trying very hard to keep all systems working!

All connections look very clean. It is a 2012 boat. I wonder if there is a turn on section on main computer.

I'd recommend that you check on the NSS to see if it recognizes the radio on the network. In the menus there should be a device list, and you should see the RS35 in that list. Also, on the NSS you should be able to go into the Vessels menu and see a list of AIS targets being received from the radio. If that list is empty than the NSS is likely not getting NMEA data from the radio. If that list shows vessels, then double check the radio gps settings and see if it lets you manually select NMEA 2000, in case the automatic selection isn't working.

There are a lot of problems with the RS35 that are fixed by new firmware. The very latest release is only about a month old and fixed a similar problem for me (getting the DSC VHF to recognize a position source on my NMEA network). Instructions to update are on the simrad site, very easy unless you have a wireless handset too since that one can only be updated by a service shop. Get update here:

TR, thanks I have the RS25, which has been discontinued. I will try Simrad again. I have gone though the com port and am now getting position with just one digit as a ?. The Nss has NMEA 1000 also the NSS states radio is OK
