Hi, I was just about to order a TP20CX Autopilot from Sailnet, when I noticed a customer review. It rated the product 1 star out of 5 and commented "Useless to Dangerous - Will not stay on course". It was reviewed by manfred@direct.ca. Is this a true review? If so thank you manfred. If not, I'd like to know. The specs appear to be just what I'm looking for at the right price for my C27.(I plan to interface it with a Garmin GPSMap 76.) I'd appreciate it if someone could give their experiece with this product. I hope manfred is wrong. Thanks for your input.

Simrad Tillerpilot

I purchased my Navico (A.K.A. 'Simrad') TP200 autopilot at the Anapolis Boat Show last year. I was given to understand that it is identical to the TP20CX that you are looking at, except for the name on the cover (Simrad purchased the company). Anyway, we have found it to be flawless! I followed the instructions to the letter, specifically: mid-stroke = tiller amidships control ball mounted 18" from rudder pivot autopilot mounted so as to be level port-to-starboard I needed 2 option parts to make it fit properly, but it was well worth it, 'cuz I can single-hand for hours now, take a stroll around (and around, and around...) my H23, put on a pot of joe, eat lunch with 2 hands (well, you get the idea!), and all I have to do is keep a weather eye out for traffic! I haven't hooked up the GPS yet, but that'll come this season i'm sure! If you do get this, just be sure to follow the instructions carefully, and I know you'll enjoy it! I don't know what prompted the evil review, but I do know that you can't please everybody! If you've any questions, drop me a line... (Noooo, I'm not a salesman!)
