I have a 2004 Hunter Passage 456 with a Simpson Lawrence Horizon 1500 windlass. I am in need of a 3/8 G-4 Chain Gypsy. Any ideas where I can locate one?

With a picture for reference- and maybe a model #- I could look at Bacon.com when I'm there in the store.

To the best of my knowledge, g-4 is not a chain designation used on gypsies. I've seen BBB, HT and a few others, and of course sized to your chain. When we bought our new windlass the retailer assured us that the 3/8" HT designation would handle 3/8" BBB. Needless to say, it wouldn't and it took several months to get the right gypsy. The retailer did not understand the gypsy numbering system, so they ordered the wrong one twice. At least these were all their mistakes, so all it cost us was time. Be extremely careful to order the correct gypsy, if you order the wrong one you might get stuck with it, and still need the correct gypsy.

Took a SL Horizon 1500 w/ 3/8" BBB gypsy off my boat two years ago for want of a new DC motor. Replaced by a Lewmar H3. The Simpson Lawrence windlass sat in my shop for a year while I summoned up the courage to scrap a fine windlass, but this spring I carted it over the scrap metal yard and heaved it into the bin. Wish someone would sell parts for them in North America.
