I have just purchased a 81 and want to redue the wood outside. The previous owner used a brand named "SIKKENS". Has anyone heard of it or used it? Any comments about other products or suggestions would be appreciated. I would prefer not to use cetol, I do not like the color. Thnks for the help!

Sikkens Cetol Marine Light

Sikkens makes Cetol. They have a new color cetol Light. This might be the comprimise you are looking for.to change might require stripping and sanding.

LaDonna Bubak - Planet Catalina

Sikkens also makes a home deck finish which just goes by Sikkens. Similar to Cetol but, I believe, not as durable under marine conditions. It does come in a wide range of colors though. LaDonna

I use Sikkens Cetol on the outside teak aboard "Cheers", my '93 36 Catalina. Here is how I use it. Step 1. Clean off the wood with a good teak cleaner Step 2. Let dry, lightly sand, wipe off with a damp cloth Step 3. Tape off with blue masking tape Step 4. Apply Sikkens and let dry. Step 5. Repeat Step 2 Step 6. Repeat Step 4 Sikkens Cetol comes in a satin or gloss finish. I apply two coats of the satin finish at the begining of each seasons.
