Signet Knot Logger Issues

Recently my speed instrument (signet MK267 digital) stopped working. I was able to replace the paddle wheel and sent the display unit back for repair. Signet did a nice job refurbishing this 25 year-old unit at reasonable cost. After reinstalling and powering up, I am able to get a reading when I manually spin the wheel dry (which I'm told indicates that the sender and receiver are functioning) however, when I return it to the thru-hull the unit reads 00.00 while moving. I have cleaned and rotated the sender 180 degrees, tried again and still nothing.
Am I missing something here? Is calibration required? Any help on this is appreciated.

Mine is like that sometimes. I always pull the paddlewheel and plug the hole when we are away from the boat. When I put it back in it doesn't always start up. If I loosen the threaded ring and just pull up enough to clear the indexing slots so it can rotate it starts spinning. Then I push it back down all the way. I don't know if bottom paint has gotten into the bore of the opening causing some misalignment or what but it seems to help by not tightening it down real hard.

I have the same exact model and recently had the same problem. In my case the solution was in a bad splice. Signet has a good online owners guide with a troubleshooting section that is very useful. If you did as I did at one time, and replaced the paddlewheel, then you had to splice the wires somewhere. When I held it and spun it by hand the wires made a connection, but then I wiggled the wire some more and it did not. I redid mine (carefully) and it did the job. Of course the paddlewheel has to be clean, etc. but I'm assuming you already did that. Also, mine has to be pushed fully and firmly into place in order to spin.

Possibly some growth impinging on the spinner
paddles when it's in place?
