Signet Depth Sounder 19E

Problem: With the engine off the depth sounder works perfectly. When I start the engine the readings double for about 4 minuets and 19E starts to flash? The Alternator puts out 14volts charging and the batteries with the engine off puts out 12.6 volts.

Charlie, I think the 'E' is an error message......you can call Signet in California and they will be happy to help you....look for w/Google. Mine flashes an 'E' sometimes.....but not always... Patrick

You could check the power at the depth sounder to determine if you are getting a power drop or surge at the instrument. Could you also check for infinite ohms or an open circuit when the depth sounder breaker is off? I bet MaineSail could say more about this.

Thanks,

Andrew

I knew this was not going to be easy. There must be a hundred different noise suppressors out there. I have to call this guy again. The best I can see is a three wire suppressor but the guy told me not to splice into the line but attach it. What the hell does that mean?

I would expect that any choke coil filter similar to what you'd use on a car stereo would work. If memory serves, the last time I got one (at defunct Radio Shack) it was three wires. Red wires went in-line to the positive to the stereo, and one black negative to ground.
