Maybe They Are Confused?

They may be confusing CNG and LPG. To the best of my knowledge, CNG has no such valve installed. Mine does not, nor any others I have seen. I think you can check the installation standards and they will document it. Call the person who surveyed your boat. They should be able to provide you with the standards. However, you should ask for a second opinion. Rick D.

Rick, you're too nice. I think Tom should call back

and demand to speak to a knowledgeable person or he will find someone else, who knows the boat insurance business and spend his money elsewhere. But Tom, be nice. :)

I found

The shutoff that I used can be used for both gasses. The only difference is where you place the shutoff.

thanks

bill where did you position the shutoff- the tanks already have shutoff valves on them and if there is trouble with gas it will not be a little fire and I really would not want to be in the galley shutting them down- also propane shut offs are not high pressure shut offs and since cng is high pressure i would have thought that they were different types. This idea started with my surveyor including this in the survey. I sent a letter to boat us explaining the difference but it was of no avail. I guess the next step will be as was suggested, a lively conversation with the powers that charge. thanks again to all for the input
