Can anyone tell me what the clips that hold the shrouds in the spreaders look like? I had a run in with a tree and can't find mine now.

possibly

First you have to remember that 3 different masts have been identified as being sold with h23s. Mine is a FranceSpar. The stay is held onto the spreader tip by a "j" shaped bolt, looks like 1/4" diameter, the long end of which is threaded with a double nut on it. The bend of the "j" captures and holds the stay in. Good Luck. Jim Kolstoe, h23 Kara's Boo.

Thanks

Mine is a different make. That is a good thing for me because if they had been as subtantial as what your describing I would have sustained a lot more damaged. I will take a look today and post the make of the mast. My sailing career is off to a rough start. I don't ever recall having a problem running into trees with my fishing boats.

Thanks again Jim

Jim, Thanks again for your response. My mast is Dwyer and the only thing holding the shroud to the spreader, by design, is a piece of wire. Thank goodness it isn't a FranceSpar. If it had been I would probably be out a couple hundred bucks instead of a few cents.

Trees will occasionally jump at your boat. Seeing a tall structure with a pretty bottom, they sometimes get the urge to mate.
