I have just replaced my upper shrouds only to find the new ones are a bit short, the only way we could fit them on was to fix them to the front hole in the chain plate which is slightly higher than the back one.(The owners instructions say that they should be fixed to the back holes). I am hopeing that the one cm or so difference in position will not cause any problems. From what I have read elsewhere on this site I may need to put a bit more tension on the upper shrouds in this position to provide enough tension on the forestay. note I have a roller furling. I would be glad of some advice on this.
