The net I bought was the same type used to cover loads on trucks or wrecked cars on flatbed tow trucks. It's a green poly (around 1/8") with a 4-5" mesh. Mine is 20' X 30' and is tied down to the trailer frame every foot or so. At the bow I gathered in the extra and wove it tightly together, working down from pulpit to trailer. Others who use it tell me it should last forever and will protect my tarp from the winter storms. Last year one boat had it's guardrail stanchions bent by the pressure of the wind on it's tarp. I've removed my stanchions and run pvc pipe from side to side like a covered wagon. I did a quick search but can't find a good link for your area. You could try a tow truck/auto wrecker company as they likely use a similar net to keep things together. An email to Rainbow Net & Rigging may get you a lead on a vendor in Toronto. I bought my net at the attached link.

Dana, thanks!

Cargo net eh! When I saw you were in Halifax I automatically thought of an old fishing net. Thanks for the tip. I have been using a big silver/black tarp for 4 winters now on my CS 27 and the only wear is from the strong winds lifting/moving the tarp a bit causing minor abrasion. If I can stop that with the net I could probably get a lot more life out of the tarp. Kevin

I don't have one myself but many in my yard do. Top knotch and the owners say they last for years.

covers

No problem, Andy! As I said, the cover's the cost of 2 years of shrinkwrap and should last 10 or more years-the math is obvious! I dug out the info-The Canvas Store, Huntington, NY 631-549-0970, www.thecanvasstore.com

shinkwrap...definately

I just finshed shrinkwrapping my C30 today! It does take a long time and can be expensive if you are paying someone to do it, but IMO it is definatley worth it. Not only does it keep it dry inside there is no rustling noise of the tarp! I do alot of work on my boat over the winter and make the frame high enough to work under it. Shrinkwrap allows it to still be light inside while you are working. One thing I do have to say is the blue works so much better than the white at reducing mold/mildew problems. Every year I had my boat done with white i had mold and mildew inside. The year I switched to blue (and every year since) there has been no problems. Shrinkwrap all the way!
