I've been showering more often on my C30 and suddenly it smells as if there is a decaying corpse in my bilge. What to do. I'm considering a separate shower sump and looking for some advice. i.e. What type, size, location, and work involved in installing one. and any enviromentally friendly way to kill the odor in the mean time (besides completely emptying and clean, which I am about to do). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank You!

Ozone for Bilge Odors

A company called Quantum Aire makes small box-like devices that emit ozone which naturally destroys mold and mildew odors. Their web site explains the type of equipment they sell. They're not cheap. The unit I bought was a little over $300, but it works great. I run it for a few days with the boat closed up whenever I begin to get any type of odor. Be sure to air the ozone out real well after turning it off, and you're set for several months. It makes my C-30 smell great.

WM sells one for 80 $

It works good for the money spent. Its not sealed and It will leak outfrom the top cover. Im In alake and use the sump for agray water pump that fills my starbord water tank from both sinks and shower I have traps bent In the wast hoses to stop the smell from comeing outof the unused sink drains and atrap bent in the hosesthat runs between the holding tank and the sumpthat stops the system from backing up if the pump fails and I used water hose between the tank and the sump but I will swich to wast hose this year to play it safe. Ive had this riged for 4 years and it is still runing like new. It gets used alot. We spent 70 or 80 nights on bord we dont shower much but the sink gos nonstop. If you guys can over board your gray water you can hook the discharge lineup to your manual bilge pump hose in your cockpit locker that way you will not need acheck valve in line and there are no new holes to drill.
