we are new owners of a 2002 hunter 340 that has the shower hose attached to the sink in the head--but there is no divert switch to move the water from the sink to the shower. anyone have a similar arrangement and any suggestions as to how to get the water to the shower head?? thanks. I also notice that the shower water goes into the bilge, soap and all which would not seem like the best for the pump.

On top of faucet

My 2001 290 had a pull up knob where the shower hose came out, turn on sink water than pull the knob up to lock. My motor home had the same exact system in the shower tub.

Our shower sump pump does a nice job ...

on our boat. It pumps the water out of the shower sump and overboard. Not a problem if you shower every day or so, but when we finish a cruise I make sure the sump is dry before we leave the boat. Otherwise, the left over soap residue in the water will rot and stink things up in a hurry. Terry

Similar to Nick's...

But mine didn't have a separate knob for the diverter - the point where the hose attached to the sink was the actual diverter - cleverly disguised. I had to pull up on that fitting with the sink faucet on to activate the diverter.

Gregg is right

Gregg I think you are right and it was the motor home that had the extra knob and the boat had the same as your's you do pull the whole hose up.

Ditto Gregg's comment

The diverter is the fitting where the hose is attached to the faucet. It pulls up to turn the flow to the shower. The chrome base of the shower hose unscrews and there is a black tube fitting underneath. The tube moves up and down to control the flow. If you have not used it in some time, the thing will be hard to pull. I have tried to lubricate the divertor but it is not easy to get lube down into the works of the valve.
