I just installed the Nova Kool LT201 icebox conversion kit and I'm more than impressed. The icebox is about 4 cu ft, and the unit cooled it from 12.5 deg to 2 deg in three hours AT THE LOWEST SETTING (Explanation: The Nova Kool unit has three "speeds" for the compressor: low (draws about 2 - 2.5 Amps), medium (draws about 4 Amps) and high (draws about 6.5 Amps). This is in addition to the thermostat, which does not control how FAST the unit cools, only how much). Running overnight at 3/7 thermostat setting, the fridge temp was down to almost 0 deg, so I'll have to turn up (down? higher temp, lower number) the thermostat (at least, until summer...)
Not only that, since I used the RT6 freezer box, I got ice as well!
That's about .5 cu ft freezer and 3.5 cu ft fridge, all drawing little enough to easily run on a solar panel.
AND Nova Kool is right here in Vancouver! (Burnaby, actually).
