We are looking at a 1978 22'. I saw a little wiggle of the mount itself when it was being lowered into running position while standing in our smaller boat rafted along side. From that angle the 'give' seemed strickly mechanical in nature ~ the actual surface of the transom not visble to me. When the owner brought up however, my husband was watching as he stood near it in the cockpit, looking down. He thought he saw 'give' in the fiberglass around the motor mount as if there was a laminate or rotting issue lurking underneath and or behind the mount. Neither of us noticed any stress cracks, blisters or other outward signs of trouble. As we like the boat and want to offer to her, we need to put this concern behind us before we proceed. We hope to go take a closer look at this mount and what it does when being lowered and raised. When we go to do this, is any give in the transom OK or does any softness indicate a problem?
