What is the shortest-length boat that has two heads?
Thanks all in advance for your input!

Here is a short 2 headed boat. It is light weight. You can paddle in both directions.

They mention a benetueau 393 as maybe the shortest, Our 1977 Islander 41 has 2 heads, 2 cabins, full saloon and galley along with an engine room big enough to move around in. Being a center cockpit boat, it is actually very roomy and with its full keel very seaworthy. Not particularly fast but with its ketch rig it is easy to sail.

Just a thought,

While it might be nice to not share a head, two heads means it is twice as likely to clog and have problems, not to mention double the maintenance. I don't know about you, however, rebuilding head pumps is not my idea of a good time.

It would probably be a boat built specifically for chartering. Those tend to be designed for multiple couples, etc. My guess is a Beneteau 32ish or something like that that is built specifically for chartering.

Oh... do you guys think he meant a boat with two service heads not two bows?
Why that is entirely different.

The Beneteau 393 or J-40 in aft cockpit, a number of center cockpit boats have 2 heads in that length. The Beneteau40 cc for example.

@rgranger the OP's profile says he is from Portland OR. The city believes it owns the phrase Portland Weird. With out specifics it could be anything.:yikes: Perhaps we are both correct. ;)

HaHa! Sorry about the confusion! I meant a boat that has two rooms capable of allowing simultaneous private contemplation of life's purpose!

Oh, come on.... if you have two heads, if one breaks down, you still have another working... or a bucket.

The Hughes 40 CC is another one in the 40 foot range with 2 heads. I believe there was a Freedom 39 that has 2 heads.

Here is another way to look at this.

While I can see the advantages of two heads, in smaller cruisers (<40 feet), one of my goals is to minimize the space taken up by non-public spaces. This means as few staterooms as absolutely necessary, and ONE HEAD. I'm not worried at all about the extra plumbing, I just don't want space that could be used as salon or galley cubic feet to be use as space that will be occupied about 2% of the time the boat is in use.

Give me a big salon (and larger stateroom) over an extra head or extra stateroom any day.

I lived in the aft cabin of a 56' schooner with two heads. The main salon had one with a toilet and my brother's and I had an old milk jug in the aft cabin. I think that arrangement would work on a much smaller boat.

BTW, two heads does not mean twice the clogs. If clogs are based on use, than one head gets twice the clogs or two heads add together to get the same number of clogs. Assuming, adding the number of heads doesn't affect the number of moments needed to contemplate. ;)
