Short, Radio, bad Battery?

I seem to be having a problem with the radio on my boat. I went out last night and after turning on the radio I noticed that it would completly shut off for a second and then immediately come back on. It did this while listening to both the radio and a CD. At the time I had the mashead light and a few cabin lights on and I didn't notice any problems or dimming with them. Thinking it was the battery I switched to the other battery, but I got the same result. I then started my outboard since it will charge the batteries as it runs thinking that might solve my problem, but it still shut off and came back on. Any idea what might be causing this to happen?

bad connection?

In this order, I'd check all the connections first since it could be a loose or corroded wire, check power to the radio with a voltmeter or substitute a different radio if all else fails.

battery

I would think it is a pretty sure bet it's not the battery. My first idea would be a bad connection someplace. Of course you may be in the same shape I am in, and the radio is dying. Mine has a problem with the volume control. Can be listening to something nice and all of a sudden, volume is wide open and won't turn down. I would start looking for a dirty or corroded connection.

Thanks

Thanks for your help guys. I'm going to check the connections this weekend. I sure hope it's just a bad connection and not the radio. The unit is only two years old and is the replacement for the original one I put on the boat four years ago.
