I have small feet - 7.5 and Sperry starts their shoes at size 8 as does West. I have found Timberline mocs in my size. Are they any good?

Higgs I have sperry's. If you get them wet and let

them dry off your feet they will shrink a half size. They will then stretch to fit your feet. I am quite tolerant of a small variation in shoe size because as Nancy says I have fat feet.

If your feet are size 7.5 you can very well wear

an 8. As a matter of fact if you use socks you should get 8 or 8.5. The shoe should be wide enough to allow you to wiggle your toes and have a 1/4 inch extra room for them toes. Boat shoes are tough on the feet as they have no arch and promote heel spurs but if you use them for a limited period of time at a time you should be fine. I keep a pair of flip-flops on board for the showers and when at anchor, but like the support and sole grip when working on deck. Sperrys are ok but I find them thin cushioned, Sebagos are my choice and I get them when I find them on sale whether I need them or not at the time.

Timberline

shoes are high quality and should work well. Make sure the sole has the "razor cuts" to improve traction.

You don't need deck shoes

Any shoes that has a soft sole that is non-maring will work fine. Wear your favorite earth shoes or sneakers. My wife bought me a pair of Rugged Shark deck shoes. They are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. If you look around you can find them for about $30.00. I have a pair Sperrys. I like my Sharks wwaayy better. Dan

7.5

Hi Higgs I feel your pain;-) I have a size 7-71/2 and find that the Sperry SB870 size 8 sneeker fits perfectly. I am on my 5 or 6th pair and find them very comfortable. I find them at West Marine. fair winds Dave

Crocks??

Have you tried or at least thought about trying Crocks? I know, I know... They have got to be the ugliest shoes on the planet but..... They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn... I understand that they were originally made to be boat shoes... My wife and I both have a pair and we love 'em..

I'll second the Crocs

When I got my first pair (on advice of a friend from Florida) everyone laughed at me. Now it seems to be the most popular shoe I see at the marina. Very comfortable and I love the non slip sole.

I recently stumbled upon

and bought a pair of "Summer Sneakers" at a local LL Bean store. These light and airy sneaks are about the best shoe I've ever worn on the boat. They beat any dedicated boat shoe, Sperry included, that I've owned. Best part is they cost about $35.

Sebago Matinicus - The Only Boat Shoes

Tried those Sperry's and found them too narrow. I have two pair of Sebago Matinicus, one dress pair and a boat pair. I normally forget which is which now. The perfect boat shoe. Can keep them on for weeks without any offence to neighbours. They are built like a Russian tank and are totally comfortable with a great grip. No other shoe for me. http://www.redskyatnight.com/product.cfm?ProductID=14326

runny dye

I had a pair of Timberline boat mocs where the dye ran everytime I got them wet in salt water. I wear my boat mocs every day, even to work, year round. Over the years I've tried every major brand, and nowadays I buy Tommy Bahamas boat mocs exclusively.

look around

WM does not want to take up shelf space for slow selling items. Look around because their website list sizes down to 6 for men/women's sizes.
