I was reading about shocking the water system per peggys instructions and was wondering about the water heater. She says to turn it off at the breaker and to not turn in back on untill you are done. My water tank is heated through the engine loop and I am on a mooring. So for me to leave the tank fill with the solution for a couple of hours I would have to power to the pumping dock. Is it ok to leave the solution in my water heater under power and thus heating the tank? Thanks

It's ok to do that

The bleach solution won't harm the heat exchanger coil in the water heater. What you DON'T want to do is run the water heater on AC power...'cuz that'll damage the thermostat and heating element.

Does not matter

either way it is a bad idea. Chlorine bleach is bad for both. Read the archives.
