Greetings: I have a E23 that has a swing keel. Does anyone know if Ericson made any other models other than the E23- that has the (swing keel)??? I really love this feature and was wondering if I could get it on a larger Ericson. Thanks-Seadog4.0

good news

look thru the specs section at www.EricsonYachts.org - I remember that the 25' has a keel/centerboard configuration, and owners seem to like that boat. There may be other designs, too.

E25 Centerboard

Sea Dog- The E25 is a centerboard boat. The 25+ is a full keel. I have a E25 and love it. The boat is great for the lake that I cruise on (Winnebago), I can go everywhere and can even tie up to shore and the dinghy docks. The boat has a feel of a larger boat. Ericson are really built solid. If you look around 25's are for sale. Recently 3 were on Ebay. One sold and two didnt. I still have their info on the two that didnt sell. Rhessenius@new.rr.com

Swingers

The 25 was the only other Ericson with a swing keel (actually, both the 23 and the 25 have "centerboards", since they are not considered part of the ballast of the boat.) Boats such as the Chrysler 22 and 25 are true "swing keel" boats, with VERY heavy keels that swing down and provide a lot of the righting moment. The major reason for having a centerboard design was to make the boat "trailerable", which in the case of the E-23 and E-25 does not mean that a boat that you want to launch and retrieve every weekend. Some of the E-23 boats have fixed keels and I believe that is also true of the E-25s. There is an active E-23 owners organization if you want to have more communication with folks who love the smallest Ericson. Go to EricsonYachts.org, then people and projects, owners registry, and choose E23-2. My boat name is "TigerEye" - email me and I will send you a copy of the current E-23 newsletter. By the way, Rob and Gary are right, the 25 centerboarder is a fine boat and has a lot more room than the 23. Harder to singlehand, though.
