Shoal Draft O'Day 22 I recently purchased a 1977 O'Day 22 with a shoal keel. Does any one have any specifications on this model 22? I do know that the standard specs I found do not correspond to the actual specs of the boat. For instance, the mast is supposed to be 27ft long, but mine is only 23'-6". I just purchased a new main sail, and purchased is by my measurements, but the sail loft sent me one to fit an O'Day 22 and it is the correct luff lenght - 20'-3". I am not sure how much the boat draws? I measured about 30" but that is based on the waterline stripe that the factory put in. Is this correct. I am going to need this information when I put in. There is a lot of shoaling in the area! I have a 15 gallon water tank in the bow under the V-berth. Is this standard? The only fill I found was on the top of the tank which is as un-handy as hell! Has any one made a modification to allow for filling from the deck? Is there a bilge in the boat? I found a small opening in the aft section of the cabin, about 2" in diameter. It is the only place I found any opening to get to the ballast area. It is too narrow to put in a bildge pump, but I need one since the boat will be in the water. I hate to put one in the cabin, that's like "locking the gate once the horse has bolted!" I am in the process of extensive remodeling, and not neccessarily to original specs. Most of it is on the inside, but I did have to change the ports. They were broken and the plastiglass had "spidered!" I "sandwiched" the cabin with two pieces of smoked plastiglass about 6ft x 9". It works great, but I had a lot of sanding to do to make the original opening presentable. It can be seen throught the plexiglass. See the photo that is attached. It makes the boat a little more modern, if you are not a "purist." I am a "functionalist!" If there is any one out there that can help me with my questions, I would be greatful.
