The year we bought our 272LE new (1987) we bought a Seth Thomas brass
wall clock...maybe 6 inches in diameter with glass bezel....Very easy to read.
Operates on one AA battery...the AA battery's last about 3 years and it's still ticking away today....no chimes, just a great clock and we only paide $ 39.00 for it new from a dealer in Wichita...knowing my history, I would go to google and type in Seth Thomas brass clocks (maybe even add in 'for boat') and see what they have available....there would be hundreds of other options but this will give you a starting point. I found a nice one on EBay a few years back.....classic ships bells that can be silenced if you don't want to hear it and it requires no battery's just a turn with a key
Watch the sale/returned section at West Marine and other marine stores. The one we found a few years ago had evidently been returned, and since it looked great and seemed to just need new batteries we bought it..... for about 1/4 the retail. Cleaned the connections and replaced the batteries and its been running just fine ever since!
