I'm planning on shipping a 1991 Hunter 35.5 from Niagra Falls to Vermont. Have several quotes from reputable transporters. Best one just under $2,000. Anyone got any suggestions on packing the mast, problems they've experienced and would like to avoid? Any input is greatly appreciated. ------------------------- Michael E. If you can, pack up the boat yourself. Put everything inside away like you were going through a Force 8 storm. Remove all valuables. If you are there when the mast comes down, make sure you have all turnbuckkles, cotter pins etc., remove masthead instruments. You will be amazed at how dirty the boat will be when it arrives. A lot of diesel soot if it is being transported by a 16 wheeler. I would try and cover it. Will save a lot of work in the long run. Good luck!

Done it a few times.

I have trucked my boat several times now and all without hitch. The best oputfit I have found is Andrews Trucking Andrews Trucking (905) 262-4223 in Niagara Falls Canada, great service and much cheaper than US carriers. Anything that can vibrate off, will, so remove as much as possible from the outside of the boat and anything heavy (batteries)from the inside, also you should empty all of your holding tanks. Leave your anchor on the baot till the boats on the trailer, then lower it onto the trailer and secure. Things that you lash in place on deck should be padded as much as possible to prevent rubbing. After lashing the shrouds etc. I wrap my mast and boom in Saran wrap makes everything more secure and it arrives clean. Ditto on the earlier post about removing masthead instruments etc.
