I'm considering doing some cruising on the East Coast next season, and wondered if anyone has any experience with shipping an H-31 or similar size boat. In particular, any information regarding cost, shippers you have used, and what your experience was. I've heard that sometimes the Hunter trailers end up deadheading back to South Carolina after making deliveries to the West Coast. Anyone know for sure? I'm pretty flexible with where I put it in the water. Could be East Coast or Gulf Coast, or even Chicago! Just want to see if this makes any economic sense! Thanks, -Richard S/V Discovery San Francisco

deadheading?

It cost more to ship west than east. If you have any doubts, then get various quotes from several. If youneed names and phone numbers, call Hunter and they can give you the name of some companies. Crazy Dave Condon

Are you ever coming back?

Richard: Are you ever coming back? Just a guess for transportation only is going to be about $4000 each way. Then you are going to have comissioning and other fees.

Hunter to Florida. . .

Beneteau to South Carolina. :) But I doubt either one goes home empty very often. Still, as Dave points out, give them a call. Best you can do I would guess would be $4000. to $5000. You wouldn't save very much jumping off at the Great Lakes.
