It's my understanding he lost steering. Channel's approx 50 ft deep. Wife and I drove nearby about 2000L last night. He looked to be just off Sandy Pt light. Depths there approach 10 ft (we know from experience.) I doubt he plowed too far towards the light, but his bulbous bow is visible above the water. Wow.

Winter bouys ......
The channel at Sandy Point has been moving easterly for many years, each year the 'dog-leg' section of the ship channel at Sandy point gets more 'crooked'. The small winter ice channel buoys are hard to see in falling light (4PM) .... not half as high as the 'summer buoys' .... easy to get confused. Who knows, --- could be the very same pilot who ran Dennis Conners boat aground during the last Whitbread that came into the bay!!!!! SHIp happens !!!!

They said a tanker went aground as they were showing the video. Interesting ship for a tanker. How about a container ship! Probably trying to go around one of the drunk power boaters that left the Baltimore Boat show headed south.... Jim S/V Java

What was the ship doing on Rt 95?
If that ship was trying to avoid boaters from the Baltimore show he should have stayed off Rt95 because that's where they were. No water access to the Baltimore convention center, they all had to be trucked in.
