Had to replace my shifter cable on my 1990 Hunter 33.5
It was an Edson pedestal. They have good instructions on their website, but they missed one crucial piece. At the base of the pedestal there was a galvanized metal pipe about 6" long that wedged the cables and electrical wires to the side of the pedestal. Because of this the pedestal had to be removed from the base of the cockpit. It was a good thing I did this because I found that one of the nuts holding the steering sheaves was missing. This would've caused major steering problems when under load.
Taking the pedestal down was not difficult and made the cable replacement job very easy.
