shift cable length

I have to replace a shift and throttle cable on my 1998 hunter 410. I was able to get a number off the transmission cable but I think at some point the wrong length of cable was installed (26ft). Does anyone know the proper length of these cables. I am trying to avoid pulling them out to measure them. I was also going to replace them with a teleflex xtreme cable.

When I replace mine, I did a measure of the length required by measuring the run from engine through rear berth and rounding up to the pedestal. Its an estimate and I give it alittle more length to be on safe side. Longer is ok as you can leave it slack at the rounding, if short by even alittle, its challenging.
