We anchored off the Wooden Boat School in Brooklin Maine on Friday, the day before the race. We weren't really prepared for the fact that soon, a hundred wooden classic sailboats, would descend around us like a flock of geese.

Hanging on anchors and moorings, five and six abreast, if a squall came through the carnage would have been epic. Hanging on a CQR with a short scope, our first stop would have been the bow sprit of TICONDEROGA or BLACK WATCH.

Boats were everywhere. Bogarts SANTANA even made it. But it was lost in the crowd of floating beauties.

The wind died on cue for a festive night. It's one thing to sail a sloop through an anchorage. To do it with a cat boat and a 30+' boom, is quite another.

The Eggemoggin Reach Regatta is a serious race, and feast for the eyes.

Did the locals pull their traps for the weekend or are they racing lobsterboats too?
