-I like sheet lengths to be long enough that I can let the jib luff
if the boat is pointed downwind. That might be 40' for 100% and more
for larger. (Add the jib foot length to the distance from jib tack
to winch, plus a bit.)
The point is that you could really want to dump pressure on the jib,
to keep from, say, crashing into a dock. I prefer docking under jib
alone, if I must dock under sail, as you cannot luff the main
downwind, and luffing the jib is the closest thing you'll have to
brakes.
