What is the best way to attach the sheaves of a reefing system to the boom and mast? Should I use screws or pop rivits?

What happened to the stock reefing setup?

The stock boom is rigged for a reefing line, so you shouldn't need any external sheaves. Do you have a different boom or are you rigging a second reef?PeterH23 "Raven"

Screws would be fine but I would...

use a silicone sealer to reduce the corrosion induced by dissimilar metals. The in-boom reefing and toping lift system leaves much to be desired. By installing a single line reefing system with external sheaves at the mast you can reduce friction and lead the line to the cockpit to simplify the operation. Just heave to, drop the halyard, pull the reefing line and reset the halyard. Measure twice drill once.

I would use alum. rivets.

I would use aluminum rivets. It is not a bad idea to place a piece of very thin plastic between the block and the boom. This keeps everything islolated. If you use screws, you may want to consider drilling and taping the boom and applying Tef-gel on the stainless steel screw threads.

I read a few things and this is just applied logic, I am not a mechanical engineer so if you are, and I am wrong please let me know.When you select your screw, make sure you use a fine threaded version. 1/4 inch screws come in 20 and 24 thread pitch. 24 being more turns per inch. Since the wall of the mast is so thin, you want as many thread turns as possible to provide the grip for the screw. I would also keep some pop rivets handy in case you "over tighten" the screws.JMHO - Take it for its cost.
